Beijing: Just two weeks before the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics (2022 Winter Olympics), China has started tightening up on the Omicron variant. Here now once again the controversial rule of taking anal swab ie samples from the anus has been implemented. According to the Chinese newspaper ‘The Beijing News’, samples of at least 27 people were taken from the anus in an apartment in Beijing. Among them was a 26-year-old woman.
Under rectal examination, a testing kit is inserted two inches (5 cm) into the rectum and is swung several times. The swab is removed before being tested in the lab. Chinese doctors believe that in this way the corona is tested more accurately.
Health experts in China believe that some asymptomatic corona patients recover quickly. The virus is not found in their throat or nose after 3 to 5 days, but the virus remains present in their body. Therefore, the Covid virus can be easily identified by examining the samples taken from the anus. The presence of corona virus with an anal swab is more solid and accurate. This method is more sensitive than throat or nose swab testing. It is more easily known whether a person is corona infected or not.
strict restrictions imposed
According to the report of Xinhua News Agency, a strict lockdown has been imposed in Beijing after the first Omicron case came on January 15. With this, 11 Covid cases have been confirmed in the capital. At the same time, the residential area of Haidian district has been closed after the Omicron case was confirmed, with strict restrictions imposed to prevent people from going in and out.
