There was a lot of rhetoric between Russia and Ukraine on Wednesday on the issue of evacuation of Indian citizens in Ukraine.
On the one hand, Russia accused Ukraine of taking Indians hostage, while on the other hand Ukraine retaliated on Russia, rejecting the allegation.
Russia claimed on Wednesday that it was doing everything possible to get Indians out of the war in Ukraine, but the Ukrainian army was holding a group of Indian students hostage and using it as a shield.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. This is the second conversation between the two leaders in a week.
The Russian Embassy in India has made several tweets regarding this. The Russian embassy wrote, “On the initiative of the Government of India, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, spoke on the phone with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The issue of expulsion of Indian students from Ukraine was discussed.
